GOUDEY, Martha Beatrice – age 78, passed away December 23, 2013 at The Ocean Breeze Estates, Yarmouth, N.S. Born April 13, 1935 in Yarmouth, N.S. she was adopted by the late Charles A and Hariet (Shaw) O’Connell. Martha was raised in Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., and later moved to Yarmouth Town with her husband Thomas and began raising a family. For a period of 15 years she opened her home to foster children. She has a deep interest in the welfare of children and served terms as president of the Yarmouth Children’s Aid Society. After raising her children she took employment in local restaurants and finished her working days as a home care worker. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Thomas, Yarmouth; sons, Ronald, London, ON; Donald, Chebogue, Yarmouth Co.; Eric, Woodstock, ON; daughter, Cynthia, Aylmer, ON; brother; Albert O’Connell, Corner Brook, NFLD. She also enjoyed 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A funeral service took place on December 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Don Moses officiated. Interment followed in Port Maitland/Beaver River Cemetery.
