Catherine was born in St. John's to Ernest and Elsie Pike. Catherine graduated from the General Hospital School of Nursing in 1950 and worked in Ontario, Frederick Banting Hospital in Gander, and Lakeside Homes. She was known affectionately by her friends and nursing colleagues as 'CAP'. Catherine met her husband Calvin in St. John's and they were married on June 2, 1955. She is predeceased by her brother Eric, sister Jessie and daughter in law Jane(Derek). Left to mourn are her five children, Derek, Heather (Larry), Pam (Colin), Jeff (Brenda) and Christopher. Also: grandchildren Johanna (Dane), Michael (Jessica), Alexander, Geoffrey, Stephan, Nicola, Ryan, and great grandchild, Aria. Catherine loved and was devoted to her family and friends. She loved playing 120's and 500's and their life-long friends played together for over 50 years. Catherine was an avid reader and supporter of the library. She was faithful to her church and an active volunteer in the community. She had a love of travel, and with Calvin travelled extensively throughout North America and Europe often with their daughter Pamela. In the summer, they would 'travel to every nook and cranny in Newfoundland'. Family and friends will remember her as loving, caring, kind to all and always finding the good in everyone.
