BAMFORD, RONALD “RON” J. N. - Ronald “Ron” J.N. Bamford, 75, of Amherst, NS and formerly of Advocate, NS and Riverview, NB, passed away peacefully at The Cumberland Health Authority, Upper Nappan, NS on Thursday, December 26, 2013. Born in Apple River, NS, he was the son of the late Harold and Grace (Drew) Bamford. Ron was retired from the Canadian Armed Forces with 14 ½ years service and Transport Canada with 14 years service. He was a Veteran of the United Nations Forces, served in the Middle East and Belgium Congo with the 1st Airborne Signal Squadron (Kingston, ON) and the 3rd Airborne Signal Squadron (Gagetown) and was a member of the Canadian Airborne Forces Association, J.J. MacGillis Branch, Kingston, ON. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, fishing, his dogs and spending time with his family. Ron will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Inez (McNally); daughter, Bridgitte Mannette (Barry) of Riverview; son, Mark (Elizabeth) of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren, Matthew and Jordan Bamford, Samantha and Jamie Mannette and Tracey, Sean and Evan Burdock; sister, Nancy Adamczyk (Rick) of Elgin; brothers, Doug (Geneva) of Moncton and Bill (Pat) of Orton, ON; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours or funeral service. Interment in Advocate Harbour Cemetery, Advocate, NS at a later date.
