Theresa MacNeil, 83, of Arlington, Mass., formerly of Benacadie Pond, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26 2013.
Born Dec. 28, 1929, in Benacadie Pond, she was the daughter of the late Michael S. and Margaret (Farrell) MacNeil.
Theresa left home to go to work in Massachusetts in 1953. She worked at Star Market in Somerville, Mass. She lived with her two brothers and two sisters in Arlington, Mass., and took care of them until they passed. A Gaelic speaker, she loved very much fiddle music and Gaelic songs. She was a member of the Canadian American Club of Watertown.
She is survived by her sister, Dolena MacKinnon of Christmas Island, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Kay (Frank Franco), Lucy, Margaret (Al Doucette), Mary Ann and by brothers, Dannie, Alex (Mary Lizzie), Michael Leo (Theresa), Hughie Dan, Angus, Jimmy (Peggy) and brother-in-law, Joe MacKinnon.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Barra Church, Christmas Island. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 2 at 11a.m. at St. Barra Church, Christmas Island, with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery.
