Doris Helen "Aunt Dodie" Dewar
DEWAR, Doris Helen “Aunt Dodie” – Parkland Estates, Truro, formerly of North River, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Violet (Rigby) Upchurch. Doris was a long-time member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Truro. For 10 years, she worked as an accountant for Patterson, Smith, Matthew and Grant, Truro, and then was co-owner of Truro Answering and Secretarial Service for 25 years. Doris is survived by her nieces, Lynda Henery (Dan Morris), Washago, Ontario; Janice (Bill) Dellabough, Oakville, Ontario. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry Harview Dewar; sisters, Violet (George) Henery, Marjorie Kight. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., today (Monday), December 30, 2013. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Church Street, Truro, The Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. Spring interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Kaulback Street. If so desired, donations in Doris’ memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
