It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, Daveen Georgina Quinn, on Dec. 25, 2013, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathleen 'Kay' (Stevens) Balsillie.
Prior to Daveen’s illness, she was employed in the dietary department of the Breton Ability Centre (Braemore Home).She enjoyed playing bingo and crafting with the girls. She was the life of the party with a legendary sense of humour. For those who knew her, her zest for life was truly inspiring.
She is survived by her husband Michael; sons Michael 'Fridge' (Tammy), Enfield, and Brett, Sydney; sister, Lillian (Erhart) Mosimann, Edmonton; brothers, David (Shirley) Balsillie, Woodstock, Ont., Dale (Janice) Balsillie, Cambridge, Ont., John Balsillie, Hamilton, Ont., and grandchildren, Kody and Jessica Quinn, Sydney.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Trisha Quinn-Finlayson, sister, Christina Fraser, and brother, George Balsillie Jr.
She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2 followed by a service of remembrance at 2 p.m. both in the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either the Cancer Centre or the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
