It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and sister, Mary 'Frances' Sheffield, on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the Northside General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Frances was born in North Sydney, July 29, 1937, and was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Osbourne) Dolomont.
Frances was a devoted member of St. Joseph parish in North Sydney. In her younger years, she was a Sunday school teacher which she was proud to do, and enjoyed it. She was also a former member of the CWL.
She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Northside General Hospital and was presented with the Queens Jubilee Medal for her work as a volunteer.
Mom is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Frank) Gale, Nancy (Kevin) Cleary, Margaret (Albert) Theriault, with whom she lived with for the last 15 years; her sons, Robert (Joanne) Sheffield, Paul (Colleen) Sheffield; her grandchildren, Danny, Stephen (Shannon), Candace, Kathy Lynn, Robin, Ryan, Cheryl, Christopher, Jordan, Amanda, Taylor and Ashley. Also by her great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Morganne, Baby Jack, Cohen, Callie, Jade, Jackie, Kallie; daughter-in-law, Chrissy; her sister, Bridget Fudger; brother, Mike (Linda) Dolomont; brothers-in-law, Luc Ouellette, Frank Fennell, Bob Bradbury; sister-in-law, Sylvia Dolomont and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George in 1985, her son Jackie in 2011, sisters, Teresa Dooley, Molly Ouellette, Shirley MacInnis, Mary Bradbury, Joan Fennell, brothers, Jack, Bill, Ron, Jim, brothers-in-law, Patrick Dooley, Jamie MacInnis and Fred Fudger.
Mom, your love will live within all of us.
You were always there for us and you are now our guardian angel.
Mom we will love you and cherish every memory we have.
Mom, you suffered for a long time, it is now time to rest.
The best mother ever, is now at peace. Love you Mom.
Visitation for Frances will be held 7-9 p.m., Friday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, at St. Joseph Church North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill presiding. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, at a later date.
