The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, January 3, 2014, of John C. “Jack” Brown of Miscouche, aged 73 years. Beloved son of the late Clifford and Dorothy Brown of Summerside. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Norma (nee Poirier) Brown, daughters Kelley Brown (Sandy MacPhee) of Milton and Tara (Chris) Snively of Summerside, sister Alana (George) MacDougall of Charlottetown, sister-in-laws Margaret (John) Raynor of Enmore, Louise (Ken) Ladouceur of Sarnia, ON, Teresa (Rollie) Bacon of Alberta, Una (John Ramsay deceased) Poirier of Summerside, brother-in-laws Clarence Poirier of Miscouche, Louis Poirier of Alberta and Paul Poirier of Alberta. Besides his parents, Jack is predeceased by father-in-law and mother-in-law Martin and Lucy Poirier, Miscouche, and brother-in-law Alfred Poirier, Miscouche. Jack was an avid sports fan with a particular love of softball. Jack took this love of softball and worked tirelessly to help bring many national and international softball tournaments to the city of Summerside. Jack often used his persistent nature and single-minded focus to help organizations and charities that he had great passion for. This included, but was not limited to, the ALS Society of P.E.I. Jack also had a love of music and played numerous instruments. His favourite was the saxophone. Jack loved life and was not afraid to think big and live it. This is something everyone should do; we are the collection of our experiences after all. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Monday, Jan. 6, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, for a funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment to take place at a later date in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Cat Action Team or the P.E.I. Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
