Murray, G. Earle, 86 of Brookside Road, Truro, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Earltown, Colchester County, he was a son of the late George and Eva (Peers) Murray. Earle worked for the Royal Bank of Canada for 30 years. After his retirement from the bank, he became the Custodian at First Baptist Church, Truro where he worked for 15 years. During his period with First Baptist Church, Earle served for many years on several Boards and Committees. Later Earle and his wife Marjorie became members of St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church, Truro. Earle was Secretary/Treasurer for the Aenon Baptist Cemetery in Central North River, for many years and upon retirement of this position, remained as a Director. Earle and Marjorie belonged to the Square And Round Dance Federation of Nova Scotia and have been active dancers for over forty years. Earle will always be remembered for his kindness, consideration to all people and for his never ending love and devotion to his wife Marjorie, family and friends. He always had a quiet and confident Christian Faith that sustained him in his life and death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46-years, Marjorie (Geddes) Murray; sisters, Mrs. Mae Smallman of Wasaga Beach, ON. Mrs. Jean Hamilton (Kenneth) of Dartmouth; two grandchildren who he loved and raised as his own; Joseph Kennedy (Cindy) of Aylesford; Sylvia Kennedy of Beaver Brook; other cherished grandchildren, Carrie Sam (Aaron) Tkacuk of Edmonton; Stephanie Dewar (Chris) of Calgary; Luke Murray of Red Deer; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughters, Carole and Monica; brothers, Bobby, Billy, Austin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will take place on Friday, Jan. 17th from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18th at 2 pm in St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Church Street, Truro. The Rev. Lori Ramsey and The Rev. Gary Yetman will officiate with a reception to follow in Kaulback Hall. Spring interment will take place in the Aenon Baptist Cemetery, Central North River. Family flowers only.
