of St. John's, NL, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at the L.A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Lloyd Sheppard aged 69 years. Predeceased by his parents: Roland James and Gladys (nee Loveys) and brother: Wayne. Survived by is wife of 48 years: Elizabeth (nee Pack) St. John's, son: Dr. Kerry Sheppard (Neveen), Rothesay, NB., daughter: Karen Flinn (Daniel), Halifax, NS; brothers: Graham, Salmonier, Roland (Olive), St. John's; sisters: Bernice Squires and Carol Ann Sheppard, both of St. John's and May Matthews, Scarborough, ON; grandchildren: Kayla, Melinda and Emily Flinn, Alexander and Gillian Sheppard as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Lloyd began his lifelong career as a photographer with the Evening Telegram, St. John's. He joined the RCAF where he was employed overseas and in Canada as an aerial and satellite tracking photo technician. He moved "back home" and worked with NL Govt. Survey and Mapping Division until his retirement. Lloyd was never idle for long. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing, hunting and curling and in his later years, he enjoyed cooking, bottling and brewing. He was a kind man who always had something to give - time; love and support. He embodied this quote "We cannot do great things on this Earth. We can only do small things with great love." Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday from 7-9 and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will take place from the Barrett's Chapel on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road, Columbarium.
