STEEVES, RICHARD HOWARD - 1944 - 2014 - Richard Howard Steeves, 69, of Edgett's Landing passed away peacefully on January 19th, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born in Edgett's Landing on April 14th, 1944 the son of the late Hilyard and Suzanne (Howe) Steeves. He worked at Crawford Houseware for 35 years and last worked as a custodian for School District 2 until his retirement. He attended the Moncton Wesleyan Church. Richard enjoyed playing his guitar and loved times shared with family and friends at the old kitchen parties over the years. Above all things he was a family man, he was a beloved husband, dad, grampy and uncle. He had a special way with children and they all loved him. He will be remembered for his big heart and for his great sense of humor. "To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die." He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend, Jean (McColgan) Steeves of Edgett's Landing; his daughters, Krystal Shedden (Jason) of Middle Sackville, NS, Kandy Steeves (Charles) of Salisbury; his cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Jordan and Brandon; sister-in-law, Doris Steeves of Wisconsin, USA; nieces, Suzanne "Susie" Geldart of Moncton, Jodi Painchaud (Dennis) of Edgett's Landing; great nieces and great nephews, Paula, Adam (Sarah), Rachel (Scott), Michael and Rodney; great great nephew, Griffin. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Jeanette "Tanny" Foley, Marilyn Geldart (Floyd); brother, Fred Steeves; nephew, Kenny Geldart.
Honoring Richard's own wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Edgett's Landing, NB, at a later date. For those who wish donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
