The death occurred peacefully at his home in Ajax, Ontario, surrounded by his family, on Monday, October 20, 2008, of John E. “Sonnie” McCabe. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Doyle) for 48 years and a wonderful father to Ed (Wendy) McCabe and Susan (Randy) Ivens. Poppa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jessica and Amanda McCabe as well as Andrew, Erin and Gregory Ivens. He will also be lovingly remembered by his surviving brothers and sisters. Resting at the Charlottetown Funeral Home, 33-35 Longworth Avenue, for visitation on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Dunstan’s Basilica. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Durham Hospice, Lower Level, Unit #1, 209 Dundas Street East, Whitby, Ontario, L1N 7H8, would be appreciated.
