It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roy Parsons announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the age of 72 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 52 years Ruby (nee Wheeler); four sons: Sean, Darroll (Carol), Todd (Caroline) and Wade (Vicky); eleven grandchildren whom he adored: “Precious” Deidre (Mike), “Pumpkin” Shauna (Justin), “Sweet Pea” Ashley, “Pop’s Girls” Kayla (Anthony) and Jasmine, “Champ” Taylor, “Pop’s Boy” Steven, “Buckaroo” Brandon, “Pop’s Buddies” Eric (Holly), Adam, and Derek; four great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy: “Pop’s Ole Buddy” Parker, “Little Squirt” Esme, “Pop’s Little Girl” Ella, and “Pop’s Little Boy” Preston; brothers: Ted and Derek (Sylvia); sisters: Freda (Harold), Ada, Dawn (Lou), and Joy (Ted); brothers-in-law: Calvin (Laura), Ted (Sheila), Gordon (Linda) and Davis (Darlene); sisters-in-law: Juanita, Glenda (Frank), and Irene. He will be dearly missed by his cat Smokey. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces and nephews, and an even larger circle of friends. He was predeceased by parents John and Susanna Parsons; parents-in-law James and Bonnie Wheeler; brothers Joe and Ben; brothers-in-law: Lloyd, Cecil, Roy, and Fred; sisters-in-law Hannah and Evelyn. The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care they gave Roy, as well as the kindness and support they showed our family. A very special thank you to Dr. Mark Smallwood for his loving care throughout the years. In honor of Roy’s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Friday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Country Haven Funeral Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations are graciously accepted to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
