The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with family and friends at his side on October 24, 2008, of William Patrick Callahan of Vernon River, age 86 years. Beloved husband of Helen (nee Taylor). Dear father of William P. of Butler, Illinois; Dennis M. of Dunbarton, New Hampshire. Survived by sister Mary Callahan of Woburn, Mass.; brother Charles of Woburn, Mass; sister-in-law Margaret Callahan, North Reading, Mass.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents William and Elizabeth Callahan; first wife Nancy Lee Hewitt and daughters Marcia and Sharon, sister Rita and brother Robert. Transferred from the Jenkins Funeral Home, Millview, to the Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford, for visitation Monday, 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Tuesday at St. Joachim’s Church, Vernon River, with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Members of St. Joachim’s Knights of Columbus, Council #7105, will hold prayer for their late brother at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:45. Arrangements entrusted to the Jenkins Funeral Home, Millview.
