The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I., on Saturday, October 25, 2008, of “Gordon” Redverse Hammill of Kinkora and Middleton, aged 83 years. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on Jan. 15, 1925, to his late parents Redverse and Eva (Dawson) Hammill. Dear husband of Genevieve (nee Greenan). Father of Marilyn (late Danny) Warren, Middleton; Gerard (Debbie) Hammill, Freetown; and Nancy (Larry) Gallant, Middleton. Grandfather to Clair (Nicole) Warren, Mary (Albert) Arsenault, Chris, Vanessa, Mitchell and Tyler Hammill, Crystal (Chris), Amanda, Brittany Gallant, and three great-grandchildren Angela and Victoria Arsenault and Caden Gallant. Also survived by sisters Elaine McCourt and Freda Smith, both of Summerside, and by brothers Eric (Helen) of Newton, Elmer (Mary) of Charlottetown, and Edwin (Joan), Freetown. Predeceased by his parents, son-in-law Danny Warren, a brother, Rev. Preston Hammill, and brothers-in-law Lloyd McCourt, Pius Croken and Wilfred Smith. Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, 21 Somerset St., Kinkora. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at St. Malachy’s Church, Kinkora, with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, October 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Donations in Gordon’s memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
