ALLAIN, OCTAVIE - 1912 - 2014 - Octavie Allain, 101, of Auberge du Soleil in Dieppe and formerly of Bouctouche, passed away peacefully at the Auberge, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Born in Saint-Joseph-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Henri and the late Sylvie (Roy) Allain. She was a school teacher in Kent County prior to her retirement. She leaves to mourn five nieces; Lucille, Adrienne, Sylvia, Jocelyne and Raymonde and four nephews; Paul, Omer, Gérard and Peter and several grand nieces and nephews. Octavie was predeceased by two sisters; Léa and Anna and four brothers; Cyrille, Arthur, Alderic and Emile. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Throughout her life, Octavie was very active in the community; president of the Golden Age Club in Bouctouche, president of the Bouctouche Charismatic Praying Group, volunteer for the Cancer society for twenty-five years, assist with religious services at the Auberge du Soleil. She loved to play cards and bingo with her friends; Lucie Crawford and Leona McDermott. She also spent time quilting blankets for the Tree of Hope with her close friend Regina Cormier.
Visitations will be held at Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’Église in Bouctouche, on Friday, January 31st, 2014 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 and on Saturday from 10 to 11:45am. Funeral Mass will be held in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Bouctouche, on Saturday, February 1st, 2014 at 12:00am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. We would like to express our gratitude for the excellent care she received at the Auberge du Soleil. Thank you to Christine, Catherine and Gisèle.
