Carol Marie Riggs - 61, of Kentville, formerly of Blomidon, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on May 13, 1952, she was a daughter of Constance "Connie" (Huntley) Legge, Blomidon and the late Francis Ira "Ike" Legge. She had been employed with Lawton's in New Minas for many years and enjoyed fun times with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the beach, going for walks and baking. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Cherie (Mark) Riggs VanOostrum, Bradford, Ontario; a son, Robert "Robb" (Kendra), Canaan; three brothers, Douglas (Kathy), Blomidon; Daniel (Shannon), Blomidon, Mark (Glenda), Moncton; four grandchildren, Genelle, Sawyer, Marek, and Emsley; nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert "Bob" Riggs and a grandson, Hayden. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Pereau Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor Mark Parent officiating. A private family burial took place in the Pereau Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request.
