WINCHESTER, DAVID - With sadness the family announces the passing of David Berket Winchester, loving husband of 57 years to Joanne (Thibodeau) Winchester, which occurred on Thursday February 6, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born 1938 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Bertrand St. Clair and Margaret (Dodd) Winchester Sr. David was employed with Irving Paper for many years as a Beater Engineer, retiring in 1997. He was president of Local 907. He and Joanne enjoyed many summers with their family at Wally’s Campground as well as ATV’ing, golfing and hunting. In addition to his wife Joanne, he is survived by his sons Brian (Lisa) and Scott (Tanya) both of Saint John; daughters Cathy (Stephen) Arsenault of Saint John and Cindy (Mark) Daye of Grand Bay-Westfield; a sister Margaret (Roy) Bosco of Titusville, NB; grandchildren Greg (Libby), Chris (Ashley), Matthew (Hannah), Courtney (Eric), Bradley, Amanda, Bryant and Morgan; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant son Robert, brothers Bertrand St. Clair Winchester Jr. and sisters Davidina, Margaret Anne and Dorothy.
Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John (646-2424) on Monday February 10, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Tuesday February 11, 2014 at 12:05 p.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the spring.
