Passed peacefully away on February 6, 2014 at Chancellor Park, Mercedes Batton age 87 years. Predeceased by her sisters: Jeannette Cron and Helen Isabelle Power and brothers: Rupert Stevenson, Jack Stevenson and Claude Stevenson. Left with fond and loving memories her daughters: Phyllis Beamon (Jimmy) Portsmouth, Virginia and Jeannette Batton, Perris California; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister Georgina Baggs, Barnesville Georgia; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and special friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Saturday and Sunday from 2- 4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the United Church Cemetery, Harbour Grace.
