It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved brother and uncle to three generations, Michael Ronald (Ronnie) McKinnon, on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Palliative Care, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a brief illness.
Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, Coady and Jane (Harte) McKinnon, brother, Coady, sister Claire, a brother in infancy, and brother-in-law, Walter (Sonny) Chiasson.
Prior to retirement, Ronnie was employed by Modern Aluminium, Sydney.
He was a member of, and very active in, Holy Family parish and then St. Joseph's parish. Serving on the parish council and other ministries.
Ronnie is survived by brothers, Adrian (Mabel), Jerry (Donna), Arnold (Debbie), Bernie (Lisa), all of Glace Bay, and Frank (Lorna), Oshawa, ON; sisters, Marie Turner, Carmie Chiasson, Joyce McInnis, Cathy (Jamie) Gilliam, Helen Kelloway, all of Glace Bay, and Anne (John) Vernon, Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law, Peggy, Kitchener, Ont.; nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Ronnie was held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9 at Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. today (Monday, Feb. 10), at St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines.
Memorials may be made to Palliative Care.
