
Catherine "Cassie" Hanson
HANSON, CATHERINE "CASSIE" - (1922 - 2014) - KOUCHIBOUGUAC, NB - Catherine "Cassie" Hanson, 91, of Riverview passed away peacefully at The Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, Riverview on Sunday, February 9, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kouchibouguac, she was the daughter of the late Will and Margaret Smith (nee Wood). She was predeceased by her husband Edward Hanson in 1957. Cassie is survived by her two sons; Bill (Bernice) Hanson, David (late Linda) Hanson and five grandchildren; Cathy Barter (Ken), Peggy Killaire (Mark), Natalie Flowers (Scott), Elaine Flanagan (Rodney) and Edward Hanson, nine great-grandchildren; Katie St. Cyr (Jeremy), Amy and Matthew Barter, Sean and Sarah Killaire, Ashley and Emily Flowers, Brennen and Tyler Flanagan, two great-great-grandchildren; Connor and Cassie St. Cyr, sister-in-law; Ellen Smith and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Cassie was predeceased by her half-brothers; Edgar (Susie) and Windsor Smith, half-sisters; Ella and Dolly and her two brothers; Lloyd (Alice) and Lawrence along with her daughter-in-law; Linda and an infant brother; Donald. Cassie was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church in Canada (Eastern Division). She was an active member in her community and spent the last 25 years of her working life as the Post Master in Kouchibouguac.
Resting at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. There will also be visitation at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Kouchibouguac beginning at noon until time of the funeral. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm, Knox Presbyterian Church, Kouchibouguac. Donations in Cassie’s memory may be made to The Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, Riverview or the Knox / St. James Cemetery Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
