
Dorothy Fudge
FUDGE, DOROTHY - Mrs. Dorothy Fudge of Kiwanis Nursing Home formally of Saint John passed away January 21st, 2014 with family by her side. She was born March 14th, 1918 in Hillsdale, NB to James and Mary (Farren) McMackin and was the wife of the late Russell Fudge. Dorothy worked for the federal government in the accounting department and was very good to the end with figures. She felt very strong about education and told every young person she spoke with too never miss an opportunity to attend college or university. She was very young at heart and enjoyed conversations in which the listener often forgot they were listening to someone 95 giving such great advice. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family and leaves her daughter Sandra Bonnycastle (Gus) of Rothesay and several nieces and nephews and special nephew Pat McMackin and his wife Ruby. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Russell; her son Mark who died when he was nine; her brothers Jim, Joe, Pat, Tom and Mike and sisters Miriam Monahan, Margaret Sherwood, Ann Russo, and Betty Hodges.
Brenan’s Funeral Home was in charge of her arrangements and her service was held in the chapel with Father David Martin officiating. Interment was in Fernhill Cemetery. Her Songs were On Eagles Wings, How Great Thou Art and It’s a Wonderful World. Her eulogy was presented by her great niece Lana (McMackin) Gaudet. The pallbearers were nephews Pat McMackin, Elward McMackin, Tommy McMackin, Terry McMackin, great niece Melissa (McMackin) Densmore and friend Dawnella Smith.
