CONNORS, RHODA - The death of Rhoda Lillian Connors of Blackville, NB, occurred at her residence on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the age of 77. Born in Blackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Eva (Sturgeon) MacDonald. Rhoda was a member of the Upper Blackville United Baptist Church, after attending teacher’s college she worked for a short period of time as a teacher but left to share in the responsibilities of the family business. She was also a member of the New Brunswick Senior Citizen’s Federation and the Thelma Campbell Women’s Missionary Society. Rhoda is survived by: her husband: Byron Connors of Upper Blackville, three daughters: Debbie Astle (Wes) of Lyttleton, NB, Denise Brophy of Upper Blackville, NB and Cherri-Lee Connors (Elie Hachey) of Penniac, NB; two sons: Kim of Winnipeg, MB and Byron John (Laurie Ann) of Upper Blackville, NB; three sisters: Vivian McDonald of Blackville, NB, Sheila Vickers of Miramichi, NB and Lois Vickers (Lester) of Cains River, NB; one brother Elroy (Eileen) of Brantford, ON; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rhoda is predeceased by: one sister: Marion Atkinson; three brothers: Ralph, Jim and Grant and best friend: Ethel Cavanaugh.
The family will receive visitors at the Lady Chapel of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Blackville on Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from the Upper Blackville United Baptist Church, Howard Road, on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2 PM with Pastor Paul Inman officiating. Burial will take place in the Upper Blackville United Baptist Cemetery later in the spring. In Rhoda’s memory a donation may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Canada or a memorial of one’s choice.
