George Leslie Kennedy, age 81, of Truro (formerly of Upper Stewiacke) passed away with his loving family at his side on February 11, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro. He was the son of the late Earl and Minnie (Thorpe) Kennedy of Upper Stewiacke. George spent many years farming in the Stewiacke Valley. After selling the farm he worked at Creelman’s mill in Otterbrook, Scott Truck Plant in Debert, and at Stanfield’s Limited until he retired. He loved hunting and fishing at his camp on Stewart Hill with his family and camp buddies. He enjoyed music, dancing, his little dog Boo, and feeding the deer and pigeons that came to visit his yard. George is survived by his daughters: Betty Graham, Wanda Kennedy, Joan (Derek) Dean, and Margie (Darrell) Welsh; brother, John Kennedy, B.C.; grandchildren Dennis, Denise, Mike, Stephanie, Tracey, Kyle, Allyka; and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia (McNutt) and son, Christopher; brothers, Roy, Arthur, Frank; sisters, Mary (Mowatt), Margaret (Fisher), Bertha Kennedy, Hazel (Brown) and son-in-law, Gordon Graham. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15th, at 2 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke, at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of N.S.
