VACON, Theodore “Ted” – 93, of Yarmouth., formerly of Quinan, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2014 at Moncton City Hospital. Born in East Quinan, he was a son of the late Victor and Josephine (Doucet) Vacon. Ted was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in England, Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was wounded in the Battle of Ortona. He was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan. He loved his family more than anything and loved being surrounded by friends and family alike. He would say “The more the merrier”. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Ted was a man of few words. He never complained about anything and he could say a lot with just a glance. He loved life and he was a peaceful man. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Madeline (Muise) Vacon; children, Louie (Kathleen), Quinan; Victor (Kathy), Alberta; Michael (Marianne), Quinan; Carmella (Eric), Springhill; Karen (Todd) Doucette, Dieppe, N.B.; brother, Raymond (Lucille), Yarmouth; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ted was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Arthur, Vitaline, Joseph, Frances, Jerome, James, Helen, Lawrence, Louie, Fred and Mary Louise. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, with a visitation from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Yarmouth. A funeral mass was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. An interment was held following the mass in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ted’s memory may be made to Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan or the Yarmouth Food Bank.
