The family of the late Sandra “Sandy” Annie Rafuse, age 72, of Upper Vaughan, Hants Co., is saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, peacefully at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on June 14, 1941, in Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Annie (Patterson) Walker. Sandy loved life, her family, her grandkids, her cat Blackie, making jam and pickles, working hard beside her husband at Lloyd’s Catering Service, and many Exhibitions over the years. Sandy had a great sense of humour and tremendous strength until the end. Sandy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lloyd; son, Greg (Karen) Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; daughters, Ruby Rafuse (Cory Bushell), Dutch Settlement; Cynthia (George) Townsend, Greenwood; Stephanie (Brian) Forsyth, Coldbrook; grandchildren, Whitney, Tom, and Dave (Nichole) Rafuse; Brycen and Karmyn Bushell; Emma and Georgie Townsend; Alexa Forsyth (Brett Ells) and Tiffany Forsyth (Ryan Currie); five great grandchildren; she is also survived by brother, John “Chub” Walker, Upper Vaughan; sisters, Maxine (Victor) Chandler, Windsor; Heather (John) Shaw, Falmouth; mother-in-law, Olive Rafuse, Windsor; brother-in-law, Granville Fraser, Coldbrook; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Pat Fraser, and Laurel in infancy; brothers, Frank Walker and Gerald Walker. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Friday, February 14, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Henderson and Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. A reception was in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, followed by the interment in the Vaughan Community Cemetery, Vaughan. Flowers were gratefully received.
