Ralph Sharp

Lieu de naissance : Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Date de naissance : 20 août 1939

Lieu de décès : Glace Bay, Canada
Date de décès : 12 février 2014

Ralph passed away peacefully at home, in the arms of his loving wife, on Feb. 12, 2014, after a short illness.
Ralph was born in Hamilton, Ont. on Aug. 20, 1939, to the late Howard Sharp and Velma (Atkins) Sharp.
Ralph worked in the pharmaceutical business for more than 35 years and his last 10 working years were spent in fruit processing at Kraft Canada/Cangro in St. Davids, Ont. For the past 35 years Ralph visited frequently and finally in 2009 moved to Glace Bay.
He made a lot of friends here and grew to love Cape Breton. One of his favourite spots was Black Brook, up around the Trail. He was an Honorary Cape Bretoner and has the T-shirt to prove it.
He was an avid sports fan and collector of memorabilia. His favourite teams were The Leafs, the Blue Jays and the Argos. He really enjoyed his Sunday afternoons watching Nascar with his two best pals, Dan and Greg. He had a season ticket to the Screaming Eagles for several years.
Ralph did a lot of travelling in his younger days and went to a lot of sporting events. Some of his fondest memories were attending the Blue Jays opening day in 1977, the 1975 World Series in Cincinnati, and meeting his "hero" Pete Rose at a sports dinner in Hamilton.
Ralph could strike up a conversation with anybody, anywhere, on pretty well any subject and make lifelong friends. He would always leave you laughing or shaking your head.
Left to mourn are his wife and best friend for 40 years, Agnes (MacInnis) Sharp; his sons whom he loved dearly and was so proud of, Dan (Liza), Winona. Ont., David (Lori), Stoney Creek, Ont.; his best friend for 35 years, whom he always regarded as his third son, Greg MacInnis, Glace Bay, his "little girl" Sushi. He also leaves three beautiful grandchildren, Kassidy, Lexi and Owen Sharp; sisters, Carole (the late Jim) MacMunn, Oakville, Ont., and Doreen Coakley, Paris, Ont.; one brother, Rick (Anne), Calgary, Alta.; brothers-in-law, Joe (the late Donna) MacInnis, Danny (Heather) MacInnis and Greg (Jackie) MacInnis, all of Glace Bay, Allan (Ann) MacInnis, Big Ridge, N.S., Paul (Cindy) MacInnis, Donkin, N.S.; sisters-in-law, Emily (the late Bernie) McGuigan, P.E.I., Anne (Jerry) Vermette, Smith Falls, Ont., Julia MacInnis, Glace Bay and many nieces and nephews. He leaves a lot of friends in Ontario and Glace Bay, who will miss him dearly.
Besides his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his first grandchild, Tristan Sharp, in infancy, also the mother of his children, Donna Thomas Sharp MacMillan, his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Margie MacInnis, Glace Bay.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. There will be no church service. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, from 1-3 p.m. at Ralph’s Home on 47 Borden St., Glace Bay.
Donations to Palliative Care, An Cala Unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

You'll sleep good tonight."
