Powell, Elizabeth Margaret “Betty”, age 76, of Falmouth, Hants County, formerly of Tenecape, Hants Coounty, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on November 1, 1937, in Walton, Hants County, she was the daughter of the late Reginald Brown and Isabel (Bonn) Brown-Lingard. Betty was a well known and loved hairdresser for over 30 years. She was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church. Her passion was bowling, especially with the Tuesday morning girls. Betty belonged to numerous groups and participated and enjoyed every moment spent in the company of her family and friends. Betty is survived by and will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 33 years, Dan; sisters, Shirley (Thomas) MacNaughton, Truro; Wendy Brown, Summerville; Marion (John) Campbell, East Gore; Brenda (Danny) Cox, Selma; Patricia Brown, Waterville; brothers, Carl (Phyllis) Brown, Tenecape; Mark Brown, Tenecape; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Woodman; brothers, Paul and Fred Brown; step father, Vaughan Lingard. Cremation has taken place, under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. There was no visitation by request. Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in the Falmouth Baptist Church, Town Road, Falmouth. The Rev. Hedley Hopkins officiated, followed by a reception in the Falmouth Baptist Church Hall. Interment will be held at a later date.
