We announce with deep sorrow the passing of Gerald Gregory Devoe on Monday February 17, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Bras d’Or, he was the son of the late Harold and Charlotte (Jellotta) Devoe.
He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Bras d'Or.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife Lillian; son Wesley (Darlene); daughters; Shirley (Edward) Scott, and Heather (Stan Bonise); daughter-in-law Vivian. Brothers; Harold, Franklyn, Ambrose, Melvin, and Tremaine. Sisters; Hilda (Hopton), and Phyllis (Dupis). Gerald is also survived by seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Besides his parents Gerald was predeceased by his son Garland; brother, Joey; sister, Erma Buffett and son-in-law, Gordon MacDonald.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of JM Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of Gerald’s life will take place on Saturday February 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Jake Andrea Officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or a charity of one’s choice.
