Russell Boone
BOONE, RUSSELL - Russell Harvey Boone passed away peacefully at The Briarlee on Tuesday, February 18th, 2014, at the age of 84. Born in Danforth, Maine on September 12th, 1929, he was the son of the late Clarence and Geneva (McMinn) Boone. Russell grew up in Green Mountain, New Brunswick, a place that always remained dear to his heart. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth (Armour), son Richard Boone, Moncton, daughters Debra Finigan, (Saint John), Patricia Hatcher (Trent), Riverview, sister Madeline Lanigan, (Goldsboro, North Carolina), brother-in-law Hans Schwerdel and sister-in-law Gladys (Marvin) Foster. Will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by grandchildren; Adam Finigan (Calgary), Julie Hatcher (Riverview), Emily Hatcher (Riverview), great granddaughter Jayla McLeod, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by in-laws Emery and Evelyn Armour, sisters Elma (John) Graham, Ardis (David) Whitehouse, Lois (James) Daniels, brother Ivan Boone, sisters-in-laws Marjorie (Paul), Farrell and Donna Schwerdel. Russell graduated from The Maritime Forest Ranger School in 1955. He worked for the Dept. of Natural Resourses and Energy until 1964 when he commenced his very satisfying career with Rothesay Paper which later joined with J. D. Irving ltd. In 1970 he became District Superintendent for the Canaan District and worked in this area until his retirement in 1994. Russell’s greatest pleasure in his retirement years was watching his grandchildren grow into young adults. He was a faithful attendee at school and sports events, and his smile was happiest when one of his grandkids was by his side. Russell was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Moncton. Russell’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dad’s Briarlee family. Thanks for all your love, hugs, kisses and tender care especially during dad’s final days.
Visitation will be held at The First Church of the Nazarene, 21 Fieldcrest Drive, Moncton, on Friday, February 21st, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, immediately followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm, Reverend Dr. Gary Cowper officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or a charity of the donors’ choice.
