BENNETT, THOMAS LEO – With deep sorrow and great sadness the family announces the passing of Thomas Leo Bennett which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 20th, 2014. Born 1950, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Leo and Marion (Simpson) Bennett. Tom worked for Irving Paper for 37 years before retiring in 2005. As a talented drummer, Tom expressed his love and passion for music in various bands over the years. He loved being at home, riding and working on his tractor and trailering with his family and friends. His grandsons were his pride and joy. Tom is survived by his loving wife Wendy (Nixon) of 36 years; daughters Krista of Saint John, Jennifer (Peter) of Halifax; son Scott of Saint John; grandchildren Justin Bennett, Rowan Swedersky, Grayson Bennett-Morton, and Emmett Swedersky; sister Sharon Saunders (Randy) of Saint John; nephew Andrew McLean; niece Andrea LeClair as well as many close friends and family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday, February 25th at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
