Jessie L. MacPhee, age - 92 of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Sunny Brae passed away February 22, 2014. Born in Sunny Brae she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Linda (MacDonald) Grant. Jessie was a Registered Nurse receiving her training at Payzant Memorial Hospital in Windsor, NS. She worked at Sherbrooke Hospital after her graduation, she later was affiliated with two hospitals in Montreal.
She was a member of the Sunny Brae United Church and an adherent of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Sunny Brae, also a member of the Sunny Brae UCW. She was a former Sunday School Superintendant and organist at the United Church.
She was always faithful and devoted to her family and community. In her younger days she wrote poetry.
She was predeceased by her husband Hugh E. MacPhee, brother Weldon Grant and grandson James. She is survived by a daughter Linda Lutz and son-in-law Aubrey Lutz of Dartmouth.
There will be no visitation at Jessie’s request. A public funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday in Bridgeville United Church with Rev. Bonnie Fraser officiating. Burial will be in the Sunny Brae Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jessie may be made to the Sunny Brae Cemetery.
