New Glasgow – Marie Stewart, passed away in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Born October 11, 1953 in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Claire (MacPherson) Connors. Marie is survived by her husband, Alex; daughter, Shelly (Jason Smith); son, Michael (Patricia Hughes); grandchildren: Sierrah, Kali, Vanessa and Charlotte. She is also survived by brothers: Glenn Connors (Jacqueline); Lauchie Connors (Heather); sister, Dorothy Carrigan (Edward); several nieces and nephews. Marie was happiest when in the presence of her children and grandchildren and was very dedicated to her family. The family would like to recognize the exceptional care and compassion the Palliative Care nurses and VON caregivers extended to Marie. A special thanks to Dr. Gerry Farrell for his special attention and hugs and Dr. Tom Park for his many years of thoughtful care. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. No flowers by request.
