Alan Joseph Dover
The death occurred peacefully, with family at his side, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, on Friday, February 21, 2014, of Alan Dover, beloved husband of Barbara Marie (Devoe), of Windsor Junction and formerly of P.E.I., age 71.
Alan was the proud father of Donnie, Stephen (Heather MacKenzie), Tammy Vessey, and Gordie (Karen); and grandfather of Jordan Dover; Kearney Dover; Lucas and Kendra Vessey; and Nathan, Madison and Bailey Dover. He is also survived by his mother, Marjorie (Fraser) Dover; his brother, John (Sheila); his sister, Rosemary MacDonald (Bill Rooney); his children’s mother, Florence Campbell; his four nieces; and his four-footed furry buddy, Maggie. Alan will also be lovingly remembered by Barb’s children, granddaughters, sisters and their families.
He was predeceased by his father, Louis Dover; his brother, Ramon; and his brother-in-law, Rogers MacDonald.
Alan was a dedicated member of the Lower Sackville Legion, where he had many crib and dart buddies. He was a passionate manager of a ball team and he spent many hours planning and organizing tournaments. He will be very much missed by the friends he made.
The Dover family would like to thank Dr. David MacDonald, Rev. Dave Maginley, and the nurses and the staff of Units 8A and 8B of the Victoria General Hospital for their excellent care.
A service to honour Alan’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Branch 162 in Lower Sackville, on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at 2 p.m. Funeral service and interment will take place at a later date in P.E.I.
