Shirley M. Caldwell
Caldwell, Shirley M. - 81, of Advocate Harbour and formerly of Spencer’s Island passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Bayview Memorial Health Centre, Advocate Harbour. Born in Spencer’s island, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Emily (McLellan) Currie. After graduating from Saint John General School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, she spent time in Saint John, North Carolina, Edmonton, Shelburne and Halifax prior to her return home to raise her family and work in Parrsboro and Advocate Harbour. More recent years have been spent struggling with a brain injury sustained in a car accident in 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Jane (Gerry), West Advocate; brothers, Gordon (Doreen), Chilliwack, B.C.; Darrold, Advocate Harbour; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend and caregiver, Joan Jenkins, Twillingate, Nfld. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald; a son, Michael; a brother, William. Funeral service will be held at a later date.
