Everett Ryder
RYDER, EVERETT, ARNOLD - Everett Arnold Ryder, 94, of Lakeview Manor, Riverview and formerly of Hillcrest Drive, Moncton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, February 24, 2014. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Frank and Myrtle (MacRae) Ryder. Mr. Ryder was the owner of the Windsor Hotel for many years. He also operated the Alpine Chalets and Alpine Motor Inn in Fundy Park until retirement. A graduate of Saint John High School, he also attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He had been Chairman of the New Brunswick Protestant Orphan’s Home Campaign for a many years and Life Director of the Home; a charter member of the Moncton Scottish Association and Band member of the Moncton Pipes and Drum Band. He was a Past Master of Tweedie Lodge #41 and a Member of All Masonic Bodies and Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. Everett was a member of First Moncton Baptist Church and had been Chairman of the Board of Trustees, as well as a member of the Deacon Board. Everett will be sadly missed by his son, David (Flora) of Moncton; grandchildren, Amanda and James; brother, Frank Ryder (Mavis) of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elsie (Stannard) (2007); daughter, Eleanor (1991); son, Daryl (2001); sister, Norma Covey; infant brother, Lawrence.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. J. Richard Jackson officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
