Passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Corner Brook Long Term Centre, Lydia Bertha Penney at the age of 93. Lydia was born December 5, 1920 in Grand Falls. She was predeceased by her husband Cecil Sterling Penney in 1971; her two infant sons: Cecil Jr. and Edgar Willis, sister, Ruby Lidstone; brothers-in-law: Noble Penney, Cyril Penney, Douglas Penney, Herbert Tipple, Frank Brockway, Ernest Lidstone, Clifford Reid, Stan Haggath and Joseph Battiste; sisters-in-law: Monica Tipple, Vera Penney, Gloria Penney, Belle Haggath, Maude Brockway; parents, Willis and Mary Eastman; parents-in-law, Edgar and Emma Penney. She is survived by her son, Gerald Douglas Penney; brother, Gerald Eastman and wife Olga; sister, Edna Reid and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 28th at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street, Reverend Tanya White officiating, followed by the interment at the Townsite Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Western Regional Hospital Foundation (Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre).
