It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Dad died Feb. 25, 2014 after a brief illness at the Glace Bay Hospital.
A gentle kind man, Jack of all trades and the best father and grandfather anyone could ask for. He taught us love, patience and understanding.
Dad was born in 1927 to Patrick and Mary (Robinson) Neary.
He attended St. John School and later worked at the British Canadian Co-op in New Aberdeen, Donkin and Glace Bay until it closed.
Dad is survived by his wife, Theresa (Nichols); daughters, Monica (Blair Munden), Carmen (Gus Daix), Danette (Shannon Boutilier); sons, Sandy and Peter and by stepdaughter, Joanne (Dave Harapiak) and Liam; grandchildren, Blair P., Nicole, Erin and Ryan Munden, Jason and Karlene Daix, Marc Neary, Colton Boutilier; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Allie and sister, Veronica Stonier; brothers and sisters-in-law and friend Stella Neary. Also many nieces and nephews.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Elva Hines and six brothers and six sisters.
There is no visitation. Funeral mass will be held, Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 11 a.m., Holy Cross Church with Rev. Norman MacPhee officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Curry's Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
