Foster, Wayne Everett

Age 74, of Truro, passed away at his home on February 26th, 2014. Born in Beaconsfield, Annapolis County on 22 September, 1939, he was the son of the late Everett and Alyce (Hogan) Foster. A graduate of Bridgetown High School, Wayne attended the Normal College in Truro and taught school at Hants West and Onslow, before taking a position at the Cobequid Educational Centre in Truro where he taught English and History. He furthered his education at Acadia University where he received his B.A. and B.Ed. as well as pursuing graduate studies. Wayne was a very dedicated teacher and was very active in preparing his students for the Reach for the Top program which resulted in The Cobequid Educational Centre winning the National Championship on one occasion. He was also very active in the St. John’s Anglican Church in Truro, serving as Warden, as a member of the Choir, and as chairman of several committees. Wayne is survived by three nieces, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Callie Anne Foster, his aunt Edith Bent, as well as several cousins. He had a special relationship with his Marble cousins, Cheryl-Ann, Michelle, and Charlotte. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Gary. Special thanks go to his wonderful network of close friends in Truro who were always there for him in a time of need. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at the St. John’s Anglican Church in Truro on Friday, 7 March 2014 at 2 PM. At a later date in May there will be a graveside memorial service at the Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. Flowers from family members only. Otherwise a donation to your favourite charity would be appreciated.
