It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son, Dan Willie McNeil, 62, of New Waterford on March 3, 2014, at home.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Dan Willie Sr. and Jennie (Burke) McNeil.
Dan Willie was a dispatcher with Midway Taxi for several years and a member of the New Waterford Pensioners' Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing darts and strumming his guitar. He was also an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
Surviving are his daughter Kelly (Dustin) Semple; son, Willie, both of Alliston, ON; brothers Jim (Sandra) McNeil, New Brunswick, Albert 'Beano' (Effie) McNeil, New Waterford; grandchildren, Courtney McNeil, Kayden and Ethan Semple, ON, Daniel Cook, Skylar Bennett, New Waterford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, Dan Willie was predeceased by his wife Paula (MacKenzie) McNeil and one sister, Joann, on April 30, 2013.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Victoria, at a later date.
