CYR, LEONARD - With heavy hearts, the family of Leonard Joseph Cyr, announces his peaceful passing on Friday, March 7, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Saint John, April 2, 1931, he is the son of the late Joseph and Melanie (Guignard) Cyr and loving husband to Mary Lou (Dobson) Cyr for over 60 years. Len worked as a carpenter for many years, finishing his career as Warehouse Manager at Canadian Tire. He was an active member of the Silver Falls United Church, and played daily at the Sussex Golf & Country Club, where he was also a member. Len was an avid outdoorsman and award winning wood carver. He was a good friend to many and a kind, caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. Along with his devoted wife Mary Lou, Len is also survived by his son Mark (Sylvie) Cyr of Saint John and daughter Sharon (Craig) Mitchell of Moncton, NB; grandchildren Chantal, Leigh, Lori, and Michael; his great-grandchildren Jackson and Audrey; step-grandchildren Richard, Gregory and Corey Watmore; sisters-in-law Bertha and Valerie Cyr, both of Saint John, NB., as well as, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Len was also predeceased by his brothers Leo, James and Peter Cyr and sister Gladys Rowe.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting Sunday from 2 to 8 pm. The memorial service will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 from Silver Falls United Church at 1 pm. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Len’s memory can be made to Silver Falls United Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
