George Wissmann

WISSMANN, GEORGE W. - October 13, 1930 - March 8, 2014 - George was born in Germany to parents, Ludwig and Gisela Wissmann. He immigrated to Canada in 1952. He worked as an electrician in Saint John, N.B. where he met and married his wife Mary Wright (predeceased 2009). He moved to Riverview in 1957 where he built his home and raised his family. George was employed by CNR from 1957 to 1993. He loved his job and never missed a day of work in 36 years of employment. When the CNR shops closed, George was "the last man out", a sad day for George. His legacy was that he could fix anything and he usually did. He is survived by his children: Eric (Carolyn) Parrsboro, NS; James (Lynn) Long Sault, Ont; Sigrid (Tom, special grandson David) Riverview, NB; grandchildren: Elka, John, Natasha, Brandon, Gabriella, and Josh; great-grandchildren: Thomas and Mae, all of which were the joy of his life.
There will be no services. Cremation at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, ashes to rest next to his wife Mary. Special thanks to neighbours and friends, Gary and Keltie Roth, and Paul and Joan LeBlanc. Many thanks for the compassion and kindness of Dr. Ken Mitton and the staff of the Moncton City Hospital. Wissmann charity of choice: Salvation Army.
