Marie was born in Mankota, SK and lived on her uncle Tom’s farm. She spent a lot of time in the hospital due to her “club foot” in which she was born with. Marie had the first surgery in Saskatchewan for her club foot. At age 6 Marie and her parents moved to Val Marie. Marie was a straight A student and graduated in Val Marie in 1967. She moved to Regina to go to business school, and had her first job at RBC in Cadillac where she got transferred to RBC in Calgary. She stayed there for a few years but always came home for the holidays. She met and married Gordon on May 12, 1984. Soon after they came to Val Marie to live on her parent’s ranch. She had two sons, Wayne and Shawn in whom she adored and loved so much. Marie loved being involved in the community. Marie and Gordon separated in December of 2003 and Marie came to live in Swift Current in 2006 where she stayed until her passing on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Marie loved drawing, reading, learning new things on the Discovery Channel and in books. She loved murder mysteries and was a crafty person. Marie always kept in touch with everyone as friendships was her passion as well. A memorial service was held for Marie Colson on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Christ The Redeemer Roman Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by her family.
