Dorothy Mae English (nee: Unger), age 74 of Swift Current, SK passed away February 24, 2014 at Regina General Hospital. The funeral service was held at 2:00 pm on March 7th, 2014 at Church of the Open Bible with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The pianist for the service was Barb Mirau with special music provided by Eva and the Sundrops. The eulogist was Jenny Janke.The ushers were Richard Courchaine and Shane Janke. Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in her life. The interment service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, at a later date. Dorothy is survived
by her daughter Sandra (Steve) Gray; two granddaughters Natasha Gray and Andrea Gray; three brothers: Arthur (Paula) Unger, Gordon (Margaret) Unger, and Allan Unger; a brother-in-law Bob
Anderson; a sister-in-law Karen Davis and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Dorothy was predeceased by her father Peter (1959); mother Emilia (1995); sister Marjorie (1941); brother Glen (1952); sister Irene Carrizosa (2002); sister Lorraine Anderson (2009); brother Robert Unger(2013); sister-in-law Eleanor Unger (1994) and an infant daughter Cheri-Lynn Schultz (1959). Dorothy was
born March 16th, 1939 in Vanguard, SK to Peter and Emilia Unger. She grew up and attended school in the Braddock, SK area. Dorothy loved to play baseball and participate in other activities with her older
siblings. In her early adult life, Dorothy married and had two daughters, Cheri-Lynn (deceased in infancy) and Sandra. Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at a young age. Her faith grew over the years and it carried her through many difficult times. Dorothy faithfully attended and greatly enjoyed her weekly Bible Study Group. She was a long time resident of Heritage Towers, and was often involved in organizing social activities and providing her delicious baked goods for special occasions. Dorothy became a volunteer at the Fresh Start Soup Kitchen about 18 months ago. "Doing the Lord's work", she would spend time every week baking buns, cookies and other treats for the children to enjoy.
Helping others brought Dorothy great joy and a sense of fulfillment. Dorothy was a kind, generous, and loving woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. We will truly miss this wonderful lady.
