BALAS: We are sad to announce the death of Don Balas. Don was born March 14 1931 on NE 29, 6-11, W 3rd (near Wallard SK). He was born to Gustav and Vilma Balas who had come from Hungary in the 20s.
He farmed south of Aneroid all his life. He was active in his community as an RM councilor, in the United Church, and as a part of most of the things going on. Don struggled for ten years with cancer, but refused to give up until the very end. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laura, and his son Don Christopher (Jen Oleson) and grandchildren Elliot and Finley, his son-in-law Brian Sayers: grandson Brad Sayers (Crystal), great-grandchildren Kyler, Carter, and Ava, granddaughter Amy McDowell (Richard); and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his daughter, Donwyn Sayers, his parents, and his siblings Louise, Wilma, Gus, Ethel, and Lloyd.
The celebration of Don's life will be held on his 83rd birthday - Friday March 14th 2014 at 2:00 p.m.at the Aneroid Community Hall Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lemieux Funeral Home. Donations in Don's memory may be made to the o the charity of your choice.
