It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gregory Snair on March 8, 2014. Greg passed away unexpectedly in the Palliative Care Unit of Prince County Hospital after a very courageous and private battle with cancer. Greg was born and lived in Halifax, NS, for the majority of his life. In 2005, he moved to Borden-Carleton, where he spent many years overseeing the daily operations of Snair's Golden Grain Ltd. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATVs, boating and being with family and friends. His kind and passionate desire to help anyone in need was appreciated by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his best friend and partner in life, Heather (Russell) Snair; daughters Shawna and Lisa Snair; beloved grandson Matthew Johnson; brother Dwight (Debbie) Snair, Chester; sisters Sharon (David) Haddock, Bridgewater; Cynthia (Brian) Wilson, Cornwall; Glennie (Mitchell) Fancey, Pinehurst; Sherry (Peter) Hayes, Spryfield; sisters-in-law, Sheila Hillier, Cole Harbour; Lynda Baiden, Halifax; father-in-law Roderick Russell, Halifax; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Glenville Snair, mother-in-law Mary Russell, and by his brother-in-law Thomas Hillier. A special thank you to Dr. McRae and the nurses at the hospital for their above and beyond efforts. The family could not have asked for anything more. Cremation has taken place. No visiting hours by Greg's request. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 21, at 1 p.m. at the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon, NS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit of Prince County Hospital would be appreciated.
