It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Margaret “Middy” Wilkinson of Broadway, on March 15, 2014.
Born in New Glasgow on April 24, 1914, mama was the daughter of the late James Gordon and Sarah Elizabeth (MacLeod) Fraser of New Glasgow.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Middy is survived by her sons: Peter (Sharon), Plymouth; James, Broadway; Frank (Maureen), Broadway; daughters: Betty Reid, Trenton; Margaret (George) DeYoung, Plymouth; and Marion Miller, Lansing, Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and she was thrilled to know she would have a great-great-grandchild in August. The lives of these children were of great interest to her and gave her much joy and happiness. Mama was a homemaker all of her married life and no one ever left our home without a cup of tea and a bite to eat. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her flowers and animals.
She was a life member of the French River Women’s Institute and was an adherent of the St. Andrew’s Church, Egerton.
Mama was predeceased by her husband William A. Wilkinson, her parents, sister Anne, brothers: Elmer, Gordon, Hudson and George.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Egerton.
