Elizabeth Patricia (MacAulay) Kenny – of Wolfville, passed away peacefully March 18, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville at the age of 95. Born in Souris, PEI in 1919, “Betty” was the daughter of the late Stephen and Sarah (Campbell) MacAulay. Her father was a well-respected master carpenter who built a number of churches and homes all over PEI. She was the last surviving sibling of a family of seven children. As a young adult she moved to Montreal to work as a nanny and there she met her future life partner, William J. Kenny. They married in 1943 and settled in Wolfville where they operated their farm and raised their family. With her husband, she was active in her community as a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Wolfville and all of its many committees and functions, a “Lionette” in the Wolfville Lions Club, an avid curler; curling well into her 80’s. Always a capable bridge player she, in her senior years, joined the duplicate bridge players at the KenWo Bridge club and enjoyed the challenge of the competition at this more advanced level of the game. Mom so much enjoyed the company and companionship of others, loved and was loved by many. Betty is survived by her children, Ann, Tom (Rosalind), Michael (Heather) and John (Susan); grandchildren, Janice, Erin, Barbara and Sally; David and Carrie; Stephen; Alison, Matthew, Andrew, Chris and Jennifer; Sarah, Laura and Alex; great grandchildren, Andrew, Miranda and Marie-Eve; Sam and Elisabeth; Maya and Deacon; Abbygail, Teaghan and Claire; Lucas. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her eldest son, Bill and siblings, Mary, Helen, Hugh, Isobel, Winnifred and Joseph; daughter-in-law, Inga. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 with prayers held at 7:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Wolfville, Father Craig Cameron officiating. Burial took place in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Ridge Road, Wolfville. A reception followed in the St. Francis Parish Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, may be made to The Saint Vincent de Paul Society in care of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Wolfville or the charity of your choice.
