Arnold Trites
TRITES, ARNOLD - Arnold William Trites (Peanut), 87, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Mildred Trites. Arnold graduated in 1945 from the former Salisbury Regional High School, he then went to work as a mechanic at the B & A Garage in Salisbury. In 1953 he built and opened Trites Esso, later becoming Trites Equipment, which he was still active in and his son Kevin now operates as Trites Automotive. Throughout that time he sold various lines of agricultural equipment and tractors and was well respected by the farming community. For many years he also operated a farm of his own with his son Brian. He was a longtime member of the Salisbury United Church, a Past President and 55 year member of the Salisbury Lions Club, having received the Melvin Jones Fellow award. He enjoyed the local jam sessions, playing and building fiddles and working in his woodworking shop. He is survived and sadly missed by his children Brian, Brenda Lewis (late Ritchie), Debbie Trites (Danny Compton) and Kevin (Jane) all of Salisbury; his cherished grandchildren Ryan Lewis, Lindsay Melanson, Carl MacLeod, Christa Macdonald, Cody MacLeod and Carson Trites; great-grandchildren Jaedan, William, Willow, Liam and Lane; brother-in-law Arthur Smith (Mabel) of Petitcodiac; his special friend Mildred Carey of Moncton and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Gladys.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) visiting will be Sunday, March 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home chapel Monday, March 24 at 11 am with Rev. Carol Smith officiating. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery at a later date.
