THOMPSON, RUBY EVELYN - The death of Ruby Evelyn Thompson of Sheffield, occurred on Thursday, March 20th, 2014 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Montreal PQ, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Bernadette (Church) DeGrasse and the wife of Russell Earle Thompson. Ruby is survived by sons Donald (Barb) of Sheffield, Richard of Sheffield and Paul (Judy) of Hamtown Corner; daughters Elaine Banks (Ronald) of Sheffield and Patricia McCoy (Paul) of Maquapit Lake; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruby was predeceased by her husband Russell Thompson; brothers Paul and Earle; sisters Pearle and Violet and a granddaughter Jaime Paula.
Ruby was a member of the Sheffield United Church, the Women’s Institute and the Happy Gang. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was particularly fond of her Friday visits to Pizza Delight, but her greatest love was for her family.
Resting at the Oromocto Funeral Home, the family will receive visitors on Sunday March 23rd, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, March 24th, 2014, at the Sheffield United Church with Rev. Merrill Slipp officiating. Interment in the Sheffield United Church Cemetery will take place at a later date.
